THE KOCH-FUNDED INSURRECTION

On January 6th of this year, violent rioters stormed the Capitol in DC, leaving five dead. These people were organized by Koch network-funded groups (including the Rule of Law Defense Fund, Turning Point Action, and Tea Party Patriots) and spurred on by 13 Koch-funded politicians who had vocally refused to confirm President Biden

It is four months later, and Charles Koch and his network continue to fund these organizations and politicians, despite the deadly consequences and impacts to our democracy. Our new report details how the Koch network funded the eight U.S. Senators who voted against ratifying the election of President Joseph Biden and also bankrolled three of the key groups – Rule of Law Defense Fund, Turning Point Action, and Tea Party Patriots – that did “robocalling” to get people to Washington, provided buses to ship them there in large numbers, and then let some of the most violent individuals loose on the U.S. Capitol.

The new report from UnKoch My Campus also notes that, while leading U.S. corporations and political action committees (PACs) have cut off lawmakers who sought to block the Biden Presidential confirmation, the Koch network has gone in the opposite direction and is now contributing again to lawmakers who voted to overturn the 2020 election results.

The report notes that the academic world has turned a blind eye to the role of the Koch network in the deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol.
